The rankings consider each character’s overall performance as well as their real combat value in Active and Support roles, so you can spend your upgrade resources where they matter instead of wasting them on benchwarmers.

Duet Night Abyss Tier List Ranking Criteria
As of Version 1.5, Duet Night Abyss has 28 playable characters. Our Overall Tier List contains 29 entries, as Phoxhunter (Lumino) and Phoxhunter (Umbro) are ranked separately due to their different combat mechanics. The rankings are based on three main factors: versatility, stats and mechanics, and performance in the current meta. Here is how each tier is defined:

Best Overall Character Tier List
In the early stages of progression, most characters can handle regular content, so the differences between them are often less noticeable at low Intron levels. For this reason, the tier lists below use Max Intron performance as the main benchmark, allowing for a clearer comparison of each character’s mechanics, scaling, and overall endgame strength.
Ada, introduced in Version 1.5, earns an S+ spot at high Intron thanks to the new Hydro Summon support introduced in this update. Fushu also remains firmly in S+ after the new Hydro Character Demon Wedges significantly boosted her Support value.
However, while Rebecca and Rhythm deliver excellent damage and mob-clearing respectively, they still fall slightly behind the very best in overall damage ceiling, versatility, or high-difficulty performance, placing them in S.
Best Active Characters Tier List
Active Characters are the characters that Phoxhunters directly control in combat. Their strength is mainly determined by on-field damage, gameplay feel, and adaptability across different combat scenarios. The tier list below uses Max Intron performance as the baseline and ranks characters into S+ / S / A / B based on their mechanics, versatility, and performance in Version 1.5.
S+ Tier Active Characters
S+ Tier Active Characters are the strongest on-field picks in the current version. They perform exceptionally well in daily farming and Commissions, while also excelling in harder content like Nocturnal Echoes and Immersive Theatre boss fights, making them the highest-priority characters to build.
S Tier Active Characters
S Tier Active Characters are strong overall and perform consistently across most combat scenarios, but fall slightly short of S+ picks in damage ceiling or versatility.
A Tier Active Characters
A Tier Active Characters are solid in combat, but rely more on team investment and player execution in harder content. In practice, the gap between them and S Tier or higher picks becomes much more noticeable.
B Tier Active Characters
B Tier Active Characters can handle basic combat content, but their overall damage has fallen behind the current meta. They feel noticeably weaker in practice and are mainly recommended as early-game or transitional picks.
Ada is a standout S+ Active Character in Version 1.5. At high Intron, the stronger Hydro Summon setup boosts her AoE output and battlefield coverage, making her one of the top DPS picks for both farming and harder content.
Rebecca is a strong S Tier benchmark after Version 1.5’s new Hydro-aligned Character Demon Wedges improved her Summon performance, though her ceiling remains below S+. Kezhou is still a solid sustained DPS, but now trails strengthened S Tier picks like Rebecca, placing him in A.
Best Support Characters Tier List
Support Characters improve overall team performance through damage buffs, healing, survivability, crowd control, and other utility. The tier list below ranks them by their support value in farming, Commissions, and harder boss encounters in Nocturnal Echoes and Immersive Theatre.
S+ Tier Support Characters
S+ Tier Support Characters provide top-tier support across most teams and combat scenarios in the current version, significantly improving team damage or survivability.
S Tier Support Characters
S Tier Support Characters provide reliable support in both farming and boss fights, but fall slightly behind S+ picks in versatility or overall team impact.
A Tier Support Characters
A Tier Support Characters can perform well in specific teams or combat scenarios, but rely more on team synergy and higher investment to reach their full value.
B Tier Support Characters
B Tier Support Characters only provide basic utility, with limited buffing and survivability support. They are generally not worth heavy investment.
Fushu is a standout S+ Support in Version 1.5. The new Hydro Character Demon Wedges further strengthen her off-field support and team buffs, giving her top-tier power and versatility.
Daphne is more debatable. Her healing and team buffs improve significantly at high Intron, but her overall value depends more on team setup and investment, so she remains in S rather than S+.
