Version: International server, Version 1.0.4

Since its global launch on November 21, 2025, BLEACH: Soul Resonance has expanded its roster from 17 playable characters to include Arrancars, the Espada, and Quincy from the Thousand-Year Blood War. This guide reflects the pre-anniversary roster and meta.

New and veteran players look for different things in a character: beginners need to know how well a character performs at low investment, how costly they are to build, and how useful they are early on, while veterans care more about endgame potential and synergy in fully developed teams. Because the evaluation criteria differ, this guide ranks characters in two separate lists instead of combining them into one overall tier list.

If you play the Nuverse version and need more Spiritual Jade to pull for recent characters such as Bambietta Basterbine and Candice Catnipp, check GamsGo’s BLEACH: Soul Resonance top-up page, which advertises savings of up to 12%.

Quick Navigation:

How We Rank BLEACH Soul Resonance Characters

Before diving into the tier list, let's break down our ranking methodology. Beginners and veterans need different answers, so we use two separate sets of criteria.

Ranking Criteria for Beginners

The key question: Will this character pay off right away? We look at:

  • Availability: Standard, free, and current-banner units come first.
  • Ease of use: Plug-and-play units that work with almost any team.
  • Cost-efficiency: Strong at low dupes, no signature weapon needed, and unlikely to be powercrept soon.

Instead of tiers, the beginner list tells you what to do: Must-Pull, Build These First, Free Characters Worth Using, or Skip.

Ranking Criteria for Veteran Players

The key question: Fully built, who rules the meta? Assuming full investment, we look at:

  • End-game boss clear speed
  • Team synergy: How much they lift the whole squad
  • Meta relevance in the current Thousand-Year Blood War patch

The veteran list uses three tiers: SS (meta staples), S (reliable core units), and A (niche picks). Anything lower is left out.

With the criteria set, let's jump straight into the tier lists for beginners and veterans alike.

Pulling characters is just the first step. When resources are limited, who you invest in matters more than who you pull.

Free Characters Worth Using

Once you've settled on your main team, you'll still need some backup options. The characters below can all be obtained for free without spending a single Jade. They may not carry you into the late game, but they're great for getting through the early stages.

Characters not included in this tier list are either currently unavailable to new players or only become valuable with a fully developed team. For these characters, check out the Veteran Player Tier List below.

Best BLEACH Soul Resonance Teams for Beginners

Before building your team, keep this fundamental formula in mind: One Assault + One Tactic + One Support. The Assault unit acts as your primary DPS, the Tactic unit provides crucial Domain Skills, and the Support unit supplies buffs or sustain. All recommended teams below are built using characters featured in our beginner tier list—no need to chase extra limited units.

Free-to-Play Starter Team

This team uses the three starter characters given to you right at the beginning. Conveniently, they fill all three distinct roles, allowing you to assemble a functional team without spending a single Spiritual Jade.

Focus your early upgrade materials exclusively on these three rather than spreading resources thin. Once you pull your first viable SSR, swap characters following the strategies below.

Substitutes: Who to Use If You're Missing a Character

Don't worry if you're missing a character from the teams above—simply swap in a substitute based on role:

The only non-negotiable role is the Tactic slot. Only Tactic units carry Domain Skills—it is far better to field a weaker Tactic character than to leave the slot empty, as missing Domain Skills severely disrupts your team's rotation and overall damage output.

Resource Priority for New Players

Here are crucial resource management tips based on common beginner mistakes:

  • Focus on Just Three Characters: Concentrate all early progression materials into a single core team of three rather than spreading resources across six different characters.
  • Save Spiritual Jades for Limited Banners: Never spend Spiritual Jades to purchase Stamina—this is the single most common resource trap for new players.
  • Prioritize the Beginner Banner First: The first 50 pulls come at a 20% discount and guarantee an SSR, offering the highest value per pull in the entire game.
  • Complete Daily Routines: Do Personal Training daily for free Spiritual Jades; complete Realm of Mutation twice daily for gear drops; and use Corridor Keys in the Stamp Corridor to farm Core Stamps.
  • Clear Main Story Stages: Normal, Hard, and Extreme difficulties all offer first-clear Spiritual Jade rewards, serving as your largest source of free resources as a beginner.
  • Save Pulls for the Anniversary: The Anniversary event is just over a month away. If your current team cleared the basic content smoothly, stop pulling after acquiring Candice and start hoarding for the Anniversary.
  • Get the Monthly Card: It's the best-value purchase in the game. You can buy the Monthly Card through GamsGo for a lower price.

Best BLEACH Soul Resonance Characters for Veterans

If you've been playing for over six months, the beginner tier list holds little value for you. This ranking assumes your characters are fully built: key Resonances/Dupes unlocked, signature weapons equipped, and skill rotations mastered. Under these conditions, we focus on a single question: Who actually rules the meta?

Here is the overview. SS-tier represents the absolute meta staples; S-tier units serve as reliable, core mainstays; and A-tier units offer niche value in specific setups or game modes. Characters below B-tier rarely see action in end-game content and are excluded accordingly.

You'll notice several familiar faces from the beginner list ranking lower or disappearing entirely here. That's completely expected—when evaluation criteria shift, rankings naturally follow. Below is a detailed breakdown for each character's tier placement, alongside recommended partners for easy reference in the next section.

SS Tier

The six units in SS-tier span all five damage archetypes: Finesse, Thrust, Slash, Strike, and Spirit. No matter which element you build around, this tier contains its primary core.

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez (Resurrección)Assault · StrikeSoi Fon

Szayelaporro Granz
The most versatile Tactic unit in the game. Beyond anchoring Spirit compositions, he frequently splashes into Bambietta or Ikkaku teams due to his comprehensive crowd control and party-wide buffs.

Kenpachi Zaraki is particularly notable in SS-tier: while rating opinions differ across guides, his forgiving gameplay and massive damage output make him well deserving of the highest tier for veteran players looking to push end-game content.

S Tier

S-tier contains the largest number of units. While they may not be single-handedly game-breaking on their own, they serve as vital, non-negotiable building blocks within their respective element archetypes—often providing the exact support needed to make SS-tier units shine.

A Tier

Units in A-tier mostly function as "substitutes": they perform well within their respective element archetypes, but get replaced once superior options are unlocked. Nevertheless, they serve as reliable place-ins when key meta units are missing.

If your roster consists mainly of A-tier units, don't worry about benching them immediately. Use them to establish working team compositions first, then gradually swap out key slots for S-tier or SS-tier characters as your pulls allow. Now that we've covered character power levels, let's explore how to combine them into optimal team compositions in the next section.

Best BLEACH Soul Resonance Teams for Veteran Players

Team building for veteran players is fundamentally different from building for beginners. Beginners need "a functional starter team," whereas veterans aim for "the optimal composition for every specific mode." Rather than repeating basic advice, this section outlines endgame team setups organized by game modes and element archetypes.

The core team composition formula remains the same: One Assault + One Tactic + One Support. The key difference in late-game progression is that elemental attributes and role synergies must align perfectly across all three slots.

Endgame Boss Teams

Let's begin with Frenzy Feast, the most demanding Boss mode in the game. Each Boss features unique mechanics; below are the top meta compositions for two major Boss encounters.

Best Teams by Damage Type

When Boss immunities change, team compositions must adapt accordingly. Veteran players should aim to build dedicated teams across multiple damage archetypes. Below are the optimal team builds for Slash, Thrust, and Spirit attributes.

Building Around the Thousand-Year Blood War Characters

Combining all three Thousand-Year Blood War characters forms the newest and most complete Finesse team archetype in the game. If you are actively pulling for TYBW units, this is your ultimate target team.

Same Character, Different Verdict: Beginner vs. Veteran Rankings

If you place the beginner and veteran tier lists side by side, you'll notice significant discrepancies in character placements. This isn't an error—rather, the two lists answer entirely different questions: the beginner guide asks, "Who provides the highest return on investment right now?" while the veteran list asks, "Who reigns supreme at maximum investment?"

The table below highlights the most notable rating differences between the two guides.

PortraitNameBeginnerVeteranReason for Discrepancy

To summarize the overarching rule: Beginner rankings reward "accessibility, ease of use, and low team dependence," whereas veteran rankings reward "high damage ceilings and archetype synergy." If you are transitioning from early-game progression to late-game meta, the safest approach is to build your initial squad using the beginner recommendations, then systematically upgrade slots according to the veteran tier list.

Now that we've evaluated the current roster, let's look at upcoming characters joining the game.

BLEACH Soul Resonance Upcoming Characters and Leaks

With the Anniversary event approaching, banner releases over the coming months will directly influence your pull strategy today. This section compiles all known upcoming character details. Please note: aside from partial developer teasers for the next banner, most information stems from datamines and community leaks—consult the status tags accordingly for sensible planning.

Next Character Banner

The Candice Catnipp limited rate-up banner remains active, while the Soi Fon rerun banner concludes on October 14.

In recent patch notes, developers confirmed that the next banner introduces a Strike-attribute Support character, which community consensus heavily points to as a Support variant of Orihime Inoue. However, the exact character identity awaits official reveal.

If confirmed, this unit significantly elevates Strike team viability: Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez (Resurrección), Soi Fon, and Yoruichi Shihoin all share the Strike attribute, but currently rely on cross-element Support options like Kisuke Urahara or Mayuri Kurotsuchi. A dedicated Strike Support perfectly fills this missing team piece.

Leaked Future Characters

Several upcoming characters from the roadmap deserve specific attention:

  • Ichigo Kurosaki (Vasto Lorde): The most anticipated Anniversary unit. Community consensus anticipates a Strike Assault carry, though official confirmation is pending. If true, Strike compositions will gain a formidable new main carry alongside Grimmjow.
  • Retsu Unohana: Almost certainly a Support/Healer unit, though conflicting rumors debate her attribute between Slash and Spirit. Avoid pre-building teams for her until official details release.
  • Shunsui Kyoraku: Currently the only character backed by datamined assets within client files, listed as a Tactic unit with potential Slash or Thrust typing. Initial leaks pointed to a June release that did not materialize; current projections place him in 2027.
  • Sosuke Aizen (Hogyoku): Hogyoku Aizen is speculated as a Spirit Assault carry. If released, Spirit teams could run standard Aizen in the Tactic slot alongside Hogyoku Aizen as the primary DPS. This remains purely speculative.

Leaks serve to guide long-term planning rather than dictate immediate pulling decisions today.

Should You Save Pulls for the Anniversary?

This is the single most frequent question from players. Your decision depends on your current account progression:

  • For Beginners: Do not hoard immediately. Always clear the discounted Beginner Banner first to secure your guaranteed SSR, then pull one Must-Pull limited unit to assemble a functional core squad. Start saving once your primary team handles daily clears smoothly.
  • For Strike Team Mains: Highly recommended to save. If both Support Orihime and Vasto Lorde Ichigo adopt the Strike attribute, back-to-back banners will significantly elevate your team's power ceiling.
  • For Fully Built Finesse or Spirit Mains: Pull selectively. Anniversary carries may not align with your established element archetypes—don't skip immediate core upgrades solely for Anniversary hype.

Furthermore, limited banner pity progress is shared and carries over between banners, featuring a hard 80-pull guarantee without off-rate spooks. Hoarding carries low risk, as any pulls invested into current banners preserve progress toward future rate-ups.

If you plan to go for the anniversary banner, start stockpiling now. Pity carries over between limited banners, so no Jade is wasted. Collect free Jade from redeem codes first, then fill the gap with a discounted BLEACH Soul Resonance top-up on GamsGo before the anniversary hits.

Final Thoughts

With Bambietta Basterbine, Candice Catnipp, and Vollständig Uryu Ishida officially added to the roster, the meta landscape has shifted dramatically since launch. Launch-era staples have seen tier drops or fallen out of core rotation entirely; as the Anniversary approaches, another meta reshuffle remains on the horizon.

Because meta environments evolve rapidly, this guide maintains a split approach across beginner and veteran perspectives. For new players, the single strongest character isn't always the best choice—units that deploy immediately without wasting scarce resources take priority. For veterans, individual character stats matter less than assembling complete, element-matched team compositions to counter specific Boss encounters.

When consulting tier lists, identify your current progression phase first and follow the corresponding guide accordingly. This tier list will be updated as soon as Anniversary characters drop and practical combat performance data becomes available. See you then!

BLEACH Soul Resonance Character Tier List FAQ

What Is the Max Level in BLEACH Soul Resonance?

Characters in BLEACH Soul Resonance can reach a maximum of Level 100, and weapons also cap at Level 100. You won’t unlock the full cap right away: the Boundary System uses duplicate copies of a character to raise their level cap, so maxing out a unit takes both upgrade materials and dupes.

Who Is the Strongest Character in BLEACH Soul Resonance?

Right now, Bambietta Basterbine is the strongest character in the game. As the first Thousand-Year Blood War DPS, she leads the Finesse team alongside Uryu Ishida (Vollständig) and Candice Catnipp. Ichigo Kurosaki (Dual Zangetsu) is a close second and is widely seen as the best Assault unit.

Who Are the Best Units in BLEACH Soul Resonance?

It depends on where you are. Beginners should target Candice Catnipp, Soi Fon, and Kisuke Urahara, who are easy to use and fit most teams. Veterans should build around the SS tier: Bambietta, Uryu Ishida (Vollständig), Ichigo (Dual Zangetsu), Kenpachi Zaraki, Grimmjow (Resurrección), and Aizen.

Who Are the Top 10 Strongest Characters in BLEACH Soul Resonance?

Based on our veteran rankings: 1. Bambietta Basterbine, 2. Ichigo (Dual Zangetsu), 3. Uryu Ishida (Vollständig), 4. Sosuke Aizen, 5. Kenpachi Zaraki, 6. Grimmjow (Resurrección), 7. Ichigo (Bankai), 8. Ulquiorra (Resurrección), 9. Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck, and 10. Kisuke Urahara.
