Pokémon TCG Pocket runs on a deliberately simple hook: two free booster packs a day, decks of 20 cards, a Bench of three, and matches that end the moment someone banks three points. In Pocket, the packs are the content.
Two years in, the release calendar is about to break its own rhythm. The B Series spent the past year on Mega Evolution, and it is signing off with Deluxe Pack: Mega, a 429-card reprint set that leaves the shop on October 29. A sizable late-October update lands with it, rebuilding Step-Up Battles and swapping rental decks for a Community Decks browser.
Which brings us to the part everyone is actually waiting on. The next Pokémon TCG Pocket pack opens an entirely new expansion series, led by the game’s first Dual-Type card, Mega Mewtwo X ex. This guide is updated whenever Pokemon reveals the set name, booster art, card list, offering rates, or launch time.
Hoarding resources and still coming up short? Happens to everyone the month before a new series drops. If your free packs and Pack Hourglasses run out early, top up Pokemon TCG Pocket can keep the pulls coming.

What Is the Next Pokémon TCG Pocket Pack?
Pokemon normally lifts the curtain on a Pocket set just days before it goes live, name and booster art and all. This teaser landed two months out with almost none of that attached, which is exactly why so much of the conversation around it is guesswork.
💡The short version
- When: October 29, most likely — that is October 28 evening in US time zones. Pokemon has only confirmed “October 2026.”
- What it is: the first set of a brand-new series, not another B Series pack.
- Name: unannounced. Players call it C1.
- New mechanic: Dual-Type cards, starting with Mega Mewtwo X ex.
- Also new: starters as Basic Pokemon ex, via Piplup ex and Fuecoco ex.
At the Pokemon TCG Pocket panel during PokemonXP on August 28, 2026, Pokemon confirmed that a new series of expansions begins in October 2026. The trailer showed three cards, then stopped short of naming the set.
Players call it C1 for a simple reason. Genetic Apex opened the A Series as A1, and Mega Rising opened the B Series as B1, so a third series should start at C1. Useful shorthand, not a published title.

When Will the Next Pokemon TCG Pocket Pack Release?
My call is October 29. Pokemon has only committed to "October 2026," but the rest of the calendar leaves very little room.
One mechanic explains most of it. Pocket sets unlock at 6:00 p.m. PDT the evening before their listed date. Deluxe Pack: Mega is dated September 30 and actually went live on the evening of September 29.
Deluxe Pack: Mega then leaves the shop on October 29. Pocket does not leave an empty week between a limited pack ending and the next set arriving, so the new series slots straight into that gap.
In practice that means October 28 at around 6:00 p.m. PDT if you are in the Americas, and October 29 for everyone else. It is also why you will see three different dates quoted for the same launch — those are time zones, not competing rumors.
The one thing that could push it back a day is the birthday. Genetic Apex and Mega Rising both launched on October 30, and this year that is the second anniversary. If Pokemon wants the handoff to land on the date itself, everything slides 24 hours.
Mega Mewtwo X ex Brings Dual-Type Cards to Pocket
Since launch, every card in Pocket has carried exactly one type. Mega Mewtwo X ex breaks that rule as the game's first Dual-Type card, holding both Psychic and Fighting.
This is rarer than it sounds. Dual-type cards have been absent from the physical Pokemon TCG for roughly a decade, so Pocket is not just catching up to the paper game here — it is reviving something the paper game shelved.
The frame is split down the middle, purple on one side and orange on the other, so you can spot one at a glance mid-pack-opening.
This is not an invented form, either. In Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, Mewtwo gained two Mega Evolutions: Mega Mewtwo X turns Psychic/Fighting and hits hard physically, while Mega Mewtwo Y stays pure Psychic. Pocket is translating something fans already know.
The trailer frames are legible enough that all three cards' numbers are already public:

⭐Mega Mewtwo X ex Psychic / Fighting · 180 HP
Weakness: Darkness +20
Retreat Cost: 2
Dual Impact: 2 Psychic + 1 Colorless for 100, or 140 with a Stadium in play

⭐Piplup ex Water · 120 HP
Weakness: Lightning +20
Retreat Cost: 1
Attack: 1 Energy for 40, and moves a Water Energy from your Energy Zone onto a Benched Pokemon

⭐Fuecoco ex Fire · 130 HP
Weakness: Water +20
Retreat Cost: 2
Feisty Flames: 1 Fire + 1 Colorless for 50, rising to 120 if Fuecoco ex already has damage on it
Two details are worth pausing on:
- It runs on Psychic Energy, not a mix. The attack costs two Psychic plus one Colorless, so dual typing does not force a split Energy Zone.
- It has one Weakness, not two. Darkness +20, same as any other card. Dual typing does not double your defensive exposure.
What is still open is the attacking side, and this is where most of the speculation sits. Two readings are circulating:
- Double Weakness coverage. A Psychic/Fighting attacker would hit both Fighting-type Pokemon (weak to Psychic) and Metal-type Pokemon (weak to Fighting), roughly doubling its good matchups.
- Double Trainer access. Cards locked to one type could reach it from either side — the Peculiar Plaza and Arena of Antiquity Stadiums, or Supporters like Korrina and Diantha.
Both are extrapolation. Several players who went through the trailer frame-by-frame argue the opposite, pointing out that nothing visible on the card changes Weakness or Energy requirements, and that dual typing may only matter for Trainer cards and Abilities that check a type.
Pokemon has not published the rules either way, so treat confident claims in either direction as guesses.

Why Piplup ex and Fuecoco ex Are a Bigger Deal Than They Look
The second change is quieter but may matter more day to day: first partner Pokemon can now be Basic Pokemon ex.
Piplup is Sinnoh's Water starter, Fuecoco is Paldea's Fire starter, and both normally sit at the bottom of a three-stage line — Piplup into Prinplup into Empoleon, Fuecoco into Crocalor into Skeledirge.
Worth clearing up one thing first: Basic Pokemon ex are not new to Pocket. Pikachu ex appeared in Genetic Apex and again in Shining Revelry, and Eevee ex headlined Eevee Grove. What is new is applying the treatment to first partner starters, and Pokemon has said more will follow.
Printing them as ex at the Basic stage changes the math in two directions:
- Upside: real board pressure on turn one, with no evolution chain to assemble. Anyone who has lost a game waiting on a Stage 2 gets it immediately.
- Downside: your opponent takes two points for Knocking it Out, and 120 to 130 HP is not much of a cushion in the current format.
Piplup ex looks especially interesting as an Energy accelerator for Water decks, since its attack feeds the Bench while still chipping in damage.
What the New Series Could Change
None of this replaces Pocket's fast 20-card format. What it does is widen the deck-building space. A Dual-Type attacker slots into more matchups, and starters finally get cards built around them instead of serving as the first rung of someone else's evolution line.
Collectors get two clear themes to chase as well: the split-color frames, and ex treatments for starters people have been attached to since their first playthrough.
One practical warning. Pokemon has said the pace of expansion releases will change with the new series, without saying how. More often, less often, or a different balance between large sets and themed packs — all still unknown. Plan around the confirmed October set rather than assuming the B Series' monthly rhythm carries over.

Current Latest Pack: Deluxe Pack: Mega
Deluxe Pack: Mega went live on September 29, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PDT, which is September 30 in most regions. It is a limited-time Deluxe Pack built from B Series reprints, parallel foils, and alternate artwork, with a guaranteed Pokemon ex in every four-card pack. It stays in the shop until October 29, 2026.

At 429 cards, this is the largest pool Pocket has ever put behind a single pack, beating last year's Deluxe Pack: ex by 50. It draws from Mega Rising through Ruler of the Skies and includes every four-diamond card from those sets.
Headline artwork covers Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Altaria ex, Mega Lucario ex, Copycat, Eevee, Charmeleon, Chingling, and Roaring Moon. These are fresh presentations of cards you already know, so the pack fills out your Card Dex rather than shifting the competitive meta.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Upcoming Pack Leaks and Future Pack Rumors
Short version: there is no credible leak for the expansion after the October 2026 set. No verified C1a or C2 name, booster cover, release date, or card list exists anywhere right now.
Beyond the schedule, a few community theories are worth taking seriously, because each one follows a pattern Pokemon has already put on screen.
Mega Mewtwo Y ex is the easiest prediction to follow. If Pocket is willing to print the X form, the Y form is a natural pairing, and Pocket has built expansion themes around recognizable counterparts before. But no card asset ties it to C1 or to whatever comes after.
The starter theory works the same way. A reveal built around Piplup and Fuecoco points at Kanto through Paldea eventually getting the same treatment.
That is a strong long-term read, not evidence that any particular Pokemon headlines the next themed booster. Until a card or pack actually surfaces, names like Charmander ex, Froakie ex, or Sprigatito ex belong on a wish list, not a leak list.
Every Pokemon TCG Pocket Pack Released So Far
Pocket has finished the A Series and is closing the B Series with Deluxe Pack: Mega. Main expansions bring the largest pools and sometimes multiple booster covers. Themed boosters are smaller releases built around a mechanic, a region, or a group of Pokemon.
Promo collections sit outside the booster system and are not listed here.
Two notes on reading this table. Card totals include secret cards, which is why they run higher than the numbered checklist you see in the app. And the dates follow the global convention — each set actually unlocks at 6:00 p.m. PDT the evening before.
Promotional cards earned through Drop Events, Wonder Pick events, premium rewards, and campaigns belong to Promo-A or Promo-B, not to whichever booster set happened to be live during the event.
Recent Pokemon TCG Pocket Updates
The end-of-October update is bigger than a normal pack drop. Pokemon outlined the first wave alongside the Deluxe Pack: Mega announcement on September 24, then added detail in an in-game notice on October 7.
Together they change how you find decks, test new cards, and work through solo content.
Community Decks and Reworked Rental Decks
A new Community Decks feature lets you search decks other players have made public. The interface shows whether you can build a deck from your own collection and how many cards you are short, then lets you copy the ones you can assemble.
Anyone who has squinted at a tier-list screenshot while rebuilding a list card by card in the deck editor will appreciate this one.
Rental decks change too. Here is what goes and what arrives:
Being removed
- Your existing rental decks
- Your theme deck lists
- Deck missions
Arriving instead
- Community Decks search and copy
- Rentals built from the newest packs
- Unlimited use in Solo and Versus battles
The rentable pool rotates periodically. That matters for launch week specifically: it means you can try the new cards before deciding where to spend Pack Points, Hourglasses, or Poké Gold.
Step-Up Battles Are Being Rebuilt
Step-Up Battles are being replaced by a new solo system where difficulty climbs as you work through the stages. Rewards like Pack Hourglasses and Wonder Hourglasses continue, but the current stages do not carry over.
Do this before the update
Clear any unclaimed first-time rewards and Battle Task rewards sitting in the existing Step-Up Battles. They become unobtainable after the rework.
The Elite Deck Gift Missions, built around Mega Lucario ex and Hitmonchan ex, also close on October 27 — one day earlier than originally scheduled.
Release Celebration Poké Gold Deals Are Ending
The three Release Celebration offers for 5, 15, and 50 paid Poké Gold, which have run since launch, end when the new series begins. Pokemon says new sales are planned but has not published prices or contents.
This is a store rotation, not the removal of paid pack openings.
October Events Around Deluxe Pack: Mega
- Ranked Match Season B4b SP — runs mid-to-late October, with a larger win-streak bonus that caps at ten consecutive wins.
- Mega Garchomp ex Drop Event — October 15 to 25. Solo battles award B Series promo packs Vol. 13, with Mega Garchomp ex, Gible, Gabite, Falinks and Delcatty in the pool.
- Charmander and Drampa Wonder Pick — October 18 to 28, the last event before the series changes over.
- Premium Shop — a Mega Charizard X accessory set (cover, backdrop, sleeve, playmat, coin) runs October 1 to December 1.

Final Thoughts
Everything here points the same direction: a new series, a card type Pocket has never printed, starters that can finally hold the board on their own, and an update that changes how you find and test decks. What is still missing is the name, the date, and the full card list.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Next Pack and New Pack FAQ
Should I Save Pack Hourglasses for the Next Pokemon TCG Pocket Pack?
Yes, if your B Series decks and collection are already solid. The October set starts a new series with cards you cannot pull from Deluxe Pack: Mega. Keep opening your free Deluxe packs, but hold Hourglasses for launch if Mega Mewtwo X ex, Dual-Type decks, or first partner ex cards interest you more than reprints and parallel foils.
Is the Next Pokemon TCG Pocket Set Officially Called C1?
No. There is no announced name or code yet. C1 is community shorthand, borrowed from the pattern where Genetic Apex opened the A Series as A1 and Mega Rising opened the B Series as B1. Treat it as a working label until Pokemon publishes the expansion logo and in-game code.
When Exactly Does the Next Pokemon TCG Pocket Pack Release?
No date is official. Our estimate is October 29, which means the pack unlocks on the evening of October 28 in US time zones. That lines up with Deluxe Pack: Mega leaving on October 29 and with a C1 Preview entry already scheduled in-game for October 28. It could slip to October 30, the anniversary. Pokemon has only confirmed “October 2026.”
Will Mega Mewtwo X ex Need Both Psychic and Fighting Energy?
No. The trailer shows its attack costing two Psychic Energy and one Colorless. Dual typing does not force a split Energy Zone, so you can run it in a standard Psychic build. Dual Impact deals 100 damage, rising to 140 when a Stadium is in play.
Will Dual-Type Pokemon Have Two Weaknesses?
Not based on what has been shown. Mega Mewtwo X ex displays a single Weakness to Darkness +20, so its defensive profile works like any other card. What remains unconfirmed is the attacking side — whether a Psychic/Fighting attacker triggers Weakness for both types, and how Trainer cards tied to one type treat it.
How Strong Are Piplup ex and Fuecoco ex?
Useful, but fragile. Piplup ex has 120 HP and an attack that deals 40 while moving a Water Energy onto your Bench, which makes it an early accelerator rather than a finisher. Fuecoco ex has 130 HP and Feisty Flames, which jumps from 50 to 120 once it has taken damage. Both give up two points when Knocked Out.
Can Piplup ex Evolve into Prinplup or Empoleon?
Almost certainly not. Basic Pokemon ex in Pocket do not evolve unless the card grants it — Eevee ex got there only through its own Veevee'volve Ability. Pocket also matches evolution by exact card name, and this card is Piplup ex, not Piplup, so Prinplup would not stack onto it. The higher HP and stronger attack are the compensation.
Is Deluxe Pack: Mega Worth Opening Before It Leaves?
It is best for collectors missing a lot of B Series Pokemon ex or chasing alternate art. Every four-card pack guarantees a Pokemon ex, but a 429-card pool makes hunting one specific card painful. If you want new cards and a fresh meta instead, save for the October series.
Will Old Pokemon TCG Pocket Packs Disappear When the C Series Starts?
Standard A and B Series expansions should stay selectable. The exception is any pack with a stated availability window, and Deluxe Pack: Mega leaves on October 29. A new series starting does not by itself remove older boosters from the shop.
What Pack Comes After the October 2026 Expansion?
Nothing has a verified name or date yet. More first partner ex cards, further Dual-Type Pokemon, and Mega Mewtwo Y ex are the popular guesses because they extend confirmed themes. There is no evidence assigning any of them to C1a, C2, or a specific month.
