Sunday is a 5-star Imaginary Harmony character in Honkai: Star Rail who provides action advance, CRIT buffs, and Energy regeneration. His summon support makes him a strong partner for Jing Yuan and Aglaea.

Proper Speed tuning is key to his performance. His 134 SPD and 160 SPD builds follow different rotations, so matching his turn order to your main DPS matters as much as choosing his gear.

This Sunday build guide covers his best Relics and Light Cones, recommended main stats and substats, team compositions, Trace priorities, Eidolons, and upgrade materials. If you’re planning to pull for Sunday’s Eidolons or signature Light Cone, you can also explore Oneiric Shard recharge options through GamsGo’s HSR Top Up page and plan your budget around your current Stellar Jade balance and pity progress.

Sunday’s strengths come down to three key benefits.

First, his Skill lets a selected ally act immediately while also advancing eligible summons. Second, his Ultimate restores an ally’s Energy and grants a CRIT DMG buff that scales with Sunday’s own CRIT DMG. Finally, his Talent increases the Skill target’s CRIT Rate, making it easier to build your main DPS without stacking as much CRIT Rate.

However, Sunday isn’t the best fit for every team. His buffs primarily focus on a single ally, so Break teams, damage-over-time (DoT) teams, and teams with multiple damage dealers may benefit more from supports tailored to their mechanics.

To see where Sunday stands in the current meta, check out GamsGo’s HSR Tier List and consider your existing roster before investing resources in his build.

Best Sunday Build in Honkai Star Rail

For most players, a versatile Sunday build uses a CRIT DMG body, SPD boots, and an Energy Regeneration Rate link rope, paired with a Relic set that boosts allies’ CRIT DMG.

This setup works well for most traditional hypercarry and summon-focused teams, but more Speed isn’t always better. In most teams, tune Sunday to act right after your main DPS—for example, 134 SPD on Sunday and 135 SPD on your DPS. See Speed Tuning below for the full breakdown, including when a 160 SPD build makes sense.

Speed tuning matters more than simply stacking CRIT DMG. Aim for around 180%–200% CRIT DMG on Sunday first, then refine his build as you obtain better Relics.

Sunday Stat Targets: How Much SPD, CRIT DMG, and Effect RES?

Sunday’s stat targets depend on your team’s turn order, so treat the numbers below as a starting point rather than fixed requirements. Hit your Speed target first, then use the remaining substats to raise his CRIT DMG and Effect RES.

How CRIT DMG affects Sunday’s Ultimate buff

At Ultimate Level 10, Sunday’s Ultimate grants the supported ally CRIT DMG equal to 30% of his own CRIT DMG plus 12%. Each additional 20% CRIT DMG on Sunday gives your main DPS only 6% more CRIT DMG. That’s why it isn’t worth breaking your team’s turn order just to chase a higher CRIT DMG number.

Adjust your main DPS’s CRIT Rate

Sunday’s Talent grants his Skill target 20% CRIT Rate at Talent Level 10. If this buff is active during your main DPS’s key attacks, around 80% CRIT Rate on your DPS is enough to reach the 100% cap. Shift any excess CRIT Rate substats into CRIT DMG or ATK instead.

Sunday Best Relics and Planar Ornaments

Sunday’s Relic choices should support proper turn order, CRIT DMG, and consistent Energy regeneration, with Sacerdos’ Relived Ordeal being his best overall set.

Sacerdos' Relived Ordeal
Messenger Traversing Hackerspace

Messenger Traversing Hackerspace works well as a transitional set, but its 4-piece teamwide SPD buff can change your team’s turn order. If your main DPS is tuned to be slightly faster than Sunday, check that the intended rotation still works while the buff is active.

For Planar Ornaments, choose a set based on the stat your main DPS’s damage scales with.

Lushaka, the Sunken Seas suits ATK-scaling damage dealers such as Jing Yuan. However, Sunday must occupy a slot other than the first for the set to grant its ATK buff to the character in the first slot.

If your main DPS scales primarily with HP or another stat, Broken Keel is usually worth considering instead.

If you use Broken Keel, make sure Sunday reaches 30% Effect RES to activate its teamwide CRIT DMG buff—this is why Effect RES ranks highly among his substats.

Sunday Best Light Cones

Sunday’s Light Cone mainly affects his Energy regeneration, Skill Point economy, and damage buffs for allies. His signature Light Cone, A Grounded Ascent, offers the most complete package, but 4-star alternatives can still support his core playstyle.

A Grounded Ascent

Sunday’s signature Light Cone is his best overall option. It improves his Energy regeneration, restores Skill Points when its conditions are met, and provides a sustained damage buff to the ally he supports.

Since Sunday typically uses his Skill frequently, A Grounded Ascent helps ease the team’s Skill Point demands, allowing your main DPS to maintain a more consistent damage rotation.

But the Battle Isn’t Over

Bronya’s signature Light Cone also works well on Sunday. It increases Energy Regeneration Rate and can restore Skill Points under specific conditions, while boosting the damage of the next ally to act.

If you already own this Light Cone, it is a strong option to use. You don’t need to pull for Sunday’s signature Light Cone to make effective use of his core support abilities.

03 / TRANSITIONAL OPTION Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds Provides varying teamwide buffs.Transitional builds

Past and Future is a practical 4-star option for Sunday. His Skill lets your main DPS act immediately, making it easy to direct the Light Cone’s damage buff to the intended ally.

Dance! Dance! Dance! suits teams that benefit from teamwide action advance. However, it can disrupt a carefully planned rotation, so pay close attention to your team’s turn order.

For F2P players, Past and Future is enough to cover Sunday’s basic support needs. Rather than rushing to pull his signature Light Cone, prioritize upgrading his abilities and getting his Relic Speed tuning right.

Sunday’s Best Team Compositions

Sunday works best with main DPS characters who benefit from extra actions, CRIT buffs, or Energy regeneration—especially those who use summons.

The teams below are grouped by playstyle, rather than ranked by their strength in the current meta. For more options, check out the HSR Best Team Comps Guide.

Aglaea Summon Team

Aglaea and her memosprite’s action mechanics make good use of Sunday’s support abilities. His CRIT buffs, Energy regeneration, and action advance help create more flexible damage windows for both Aglaea and her memosprite. Robin provides teamwide ATK and damage buffs, while Huohuo handles healing and Energy support.

Keep in mind that Aglaea’s SPD can change during battle, so a fixed setup of 135 SPD on Aglaea and 134 SPD on Sunday may not consistently produce the intended rotation.

Jing Yuan Team

Jing Yuan is a prime example of a character who benefits from Sunday’s summon support.

Sunday can advance both Jing Yuan and the Lightning-Lord, reducing the downtime before the Lightning-Lord deals damage. Tingyun provides ATK buffs and Energy support, while Aventurine supplies shields to keep the team alive.

This team is especially well suited to players who have already invested in Jing Yuan and want a smoother, more consistent Lightning-Lord damage rotation.

Argenti Hypercarry Team

Argenti relies on his high-Energy Ultimate to deal burst damage, while Sunday provides Energy regeneration, CRIT buffs, and action advance. Tingyun adds further Energy support and ATK buffs, and Huohuo’s Energy restoration helps Argenti use his Ultimate more consistently.

Mydei Team

Mydei scales primarily with HP, so pair Sunday with Broken Keel rather than Lushaka to make the most of his CRIT DMG support. Sunday’s action advance and CRIT buffs give Mydei more frequent damage windows, Tribbie adds teamwide damage buffs, and Luocha keeps the team healed.

Sunday vs. Robin vs. Bronya: Which Support Should You Use?

Sunday, Robin, and Bronya are all Harmony supports, but they suit different team structures. The table below compares their core strengths to help you decide which one fits your main DPS.

Sunday Trace Priority and Abilities

Sunday’s core support abilities come from his Skill, Ultimate, and Talent. His Basic ATK is a low upgrade priority.

Recommended priority: Skill = Ultimate = Talent > Basic ATK.

Skill – Benison of Paper and Rites

Sunday’s Skill lets a selected ally and their eligible summon act immediately while providing a damage buff.

At Skill Level 10, the target receives a 30% damage bonus. If the target has an eligible summon, they receive an additional 50% damage bonus.

Using his Skill on an ally who already has the Beatified status from his Ultimate also recovers 1 Skill Point. After unlocking the Haven in Palm Bonus Ability, his Skill also dispels 1 debuff from the target.

Ultimate – Ode to Caress and Cicatrix

Sunday’s Ultimate restores Energy equal to 20% of the target’s Max Energy and grants them the Beatified status. After unlocking the corresponding Bonus Ability, the Energy restored increases to 40 if the calculated amount would be lower.

At Ultimate Level 10, the CRIT DMG buff is calculated as:

Sunday’s CRIT DMG × 30% + 12%.

For example, a Sunday with 200% CRIT DMG grants the supported ally a 72% CRIT DMG bonus.

HSR Sunday

Talent – The Sorrowing Body

At Talent Level 10, Sunday’s Skill grants the target 20% CRIT Rate.

When building a main DPS paired with Sunday, account for this buff and its uptime to avoid exceeding 100% CRIT Rate and wasting stats.

Unlock his key Bonus Abilities first, then raise his Skill, Ultimate, and Talent to Level 8 before gradually upgrading them to Level 10.

Sunday Eidolons: Which Ones Are Worth It?

Sunday’s core support kit is complete at E0. His Eidolons improve damage, resource management, and CRIT buffs, but they aren’t required to use him effectively.

SUNDAY BUILD GUIDE Eidolons & Investment Priority
EidolonMain BenefitsRecommendation
E1Allows the supported DPS to ignore 16% of enemy DEF and their summon to ignore 40%.Best Early Investment
E2Recovers 2 Skill Points on his first Ultimate use and provides an additional damage buff.High-Investment Option
E3Increases Ultimate and Basic ATK levels.Stepping Stone
E4Restores 8 Energy at the start of each turn.Smoother Rotations
E5Increases Skill and Talent levels.Stepping Stone
E6Allows his CRIT Rate buff to stack and converts excess CRIT Rate into CRIT DMG.High-Investment Option

E1 is Sunday’s most worthwhile early Eidolon. Characters like Jing Yuan, whose summons contribute a large share of their damage, can benefit significantly from the 40% DEF ignore.

E2 places more emphasis on Skill Point management, making it useful for resource-hungry teams. E6 suits players looking to maximize his CRIT buffs.

For most players, building E0 Sunday should come first. If you want to invest further, choose between E1 and his signature Light Cone based on your team’s needs. Consider E1 if summon damage is a major part of your team’s output and your rotation already runs smoothly. If you struggle with Ultimate uptime or Skill Points, his signature Light Cone may be more valuable.

To account for other characters in your pull plans, check the HSR Banner History & Rerun Tracker and balance your investment in Sunday against the needs of your other teams.

Sunday Ascension and Trace Materials

To level Sunday to 80, you’ll need character Ascension materials, Credits, and Character EXP materials. Upgrading his Traces also requires Harmony materials and Echo of War drops. To fully upgrade all of Sunday’s Traces... you’ll also need the following materials:

  • E1 — Best Early Investment: Allows the supported DPS to ignore 16% of enemy DEF and their summon to ignore 40%.
  • E2 — High-Investment Option: Recovers 2 Skill Points on Sunday’s first Ultimate use and provides an additional damage buff.
  • E3 — Stepping Stone: Increases his Ultimate and Basic ATK levels.
  • E4 — Smoother Rotations: Restores 8 Energy at the start of each turn.
  • E5 — Stepping Stone: Increases his Skill and Talent levels.
  • E6 — High-Investment Option: Allows his CRIT Rate buff to stack and converts excess CRIT Rate into CRIT DMG.

These totals cover his entire Trace tree, rather than just his three core abilities.

Recommended build order: Level 80 → Unlock Bonus Abilities → Level 8 core Traces → Speed tuning → Level 10 core Traces → Refine Relic substats.

This approach gets Sunday ready for combat sooner and helps you avoid spending too much Trailblaze Power chasing perfect Relics early on.

How to Play Sunday Effectively

The most common mistake when playing Sunday is poor turn order, rather than choosing the wrong Relics.

In a standard hypercarry team, aim to make your main DPS slightly faster than Sunday. With 135 SPD on your main DPS and 134 SPD on Sunday, your main DPS takes their natural turn first. Sunday then uses his Skill to advance their action, allowing your main DPS to act again immediately.

This rotation combines your main DPS’s natural turn with the extra action Sunday provides, allowing them to deal damage in quick succession.

Why 134 SPD? A character’s action interval equals 10,000 ÷ SPD. At 134 SPD, Sunday’s first action comes at roughly 74.6 action value, allowing him to act twice within the 150 action value of Memory of Chaos’s first cycle.

However, 134 SPD isn’t a strict requirement. If SPD buffs, slows, or other action-advance effects affect your main DPS, adjust your Speed tuning based on the actual turn order in battle.

Should You Choose 134 SPD or 160 SPD?

SUNDAY BUILD GUIDE 134 vs. 160 SPD
Comparison134 SPD STANDARD BUILD 160 SPD HIGH-SPEED BUILD
PlaystyleMain DPS acts just before Sunday.Fast Sunday advances the main DPS’s actions.
Main DPSUsually needs SPD boots or SPD substats. Can use a lower-SPD build.
AdvantageMakes back-to-back turns easier to achieve.Lets the main DPS invest more in damage stats.
DisadvantageRequires precise Speed tuning.Requires substantial SPD investment on Sunday.
RecommendationBest starting point for most players Suited to specific teams

For most players, start with a setup where Sunday is slightly slower than your main DPS. Characters with special Speed mechanics, such as Aglaea, require separate tuning to account for their SPD changes during battle.

Sunday’s Beatified status from his Ultimate also affects Skill Point management. Keep the buff active during key damage windows to avoid Skill Point shortages caused by gaps in its uptime.

If your damage feels inconsistent, check the following in order:

  1. Does your main DPS act before Sunday?
  2. Does Sunday’s Ultimate buff cover your key attacks?
  3. Is your main DPS exceeding 100% CRIT Rate?
  4. Does the team have enough Skill Points?

These adjustments often have a more direct impact on combat performance than simply increasing Sunday’s CRIT DMG.

Conclusion

Sunday is a 5-star Harmony character whose strengths lie in action advance and CRIT support, making him especially effective in summon-focused and traditional hypercarry teams.

His best general-purpose setup is A Grounded Ascent + Sacerdos’ Relived Ordeal + Broken Keel, with main stats focused on CRIT DMG, SPD, and Energy Regeneration Rate. If your main DPS scales with ATK, such as Jing Yuan, Lushaka, the Sunken Seas is a strong alternative.

If you don’t have his signature Light Cone, Past and Future is a practical alternative. E0 Sunday already has a complete support kit, so there’s no need to rush his Eidolons. If you want to invest further, E1 or his signature Light Cone offers the most noticeable upgrade, depending on your team’s needs.

HSR Sunday FAQ

Is Sunday Worth Pulling?

If you run a hypercarry or summon-focused team—such as Jing Yuan or Aglaea—Sunday is a strong investment. If your main teams rely on Break or DoT damage, he’s a lower priority, since his buffs focus on CRIT and single-target support.

Does Sunday Work With Firefly or Acheron?

Generally, he isn’t the best fit for either. Firefly’s Break damage doesn’t benefit from CRIT buffs, and Acheron’s kit favors Nihility teammates. Supports built for their mechanics usually provide more value.

How Much CRIT DMG Does Sunday Need?

Aim for around 180%–200% CRIT DMG first, then gradually improve his build. His Ultimate’s CRIT DMG buff scales with his own CRIT DMG, but proper Speed tuning and consistent Energy regeneration are usually more important.

Can Sunday Advance Memosprites?

Yes. Memosprites count as summons for Sunday’s Skill, so he can advance them alongside their owner—one reason he pairs well with Aglaea.

Is Sunday Worth Building at E0?

Yes. E0 Sunday already offers action advance, summon support, CRIT buffs, Energy regeneration, and debuff removal. If resources are limited, focus on building him at E0 before considering additional Eidolons.
