After six years of waiting, it's finally happening. Genshin Impact Version 7.0 drops on August 12, 2026, and it's taking us straight to Snezhnaya☃️, the Tsaritsa's frozen empire, the Fatui's home turf, and the last nation on our Teyvat road trip.

The 7.0 Special Program aired on July 31, 2026, so the guessing is over. Phase 1 pairs Odette's debut with an Arlecchino rerun, both carrying the new 4-star Alyosha. Phase 2 brings back Flins and Ineffa. Everything past 7.0, including Vodyanitsa, Vesna, and the Tsaritsa, is still leak territory.

How Solid Is Each Claim?

Now that the Special Program has aired, most of the 7.0 details are official. Here's the scale we use throughout this guide.

• Official: Announced by HoYoverse or already live in the game. Nothing left to change.
• Beta kit: Pulled from the 7.0 beta client. The character and the mechanics are real, but final numbers can still shift.
• Leak: Multiple established leakers agree. The character is coming, but the version or the details can still move.
• Rumor: Early-stage chatter from a single source. Treat it as a maybe.

Version 7.0 Release Schedule

HoYoverse first confirmed the Version 7.0 release date during the "To Snezhnaya and the Future" Special Program on April 24, 2026. The date was embedded in a redemption code, Snezhnaya20260812, which rewarded 200 Primogems. The full patch was then detailed in the 7.0 Special Program on July 31. Note that HoYoverse is skipping Version 6.8 entirely, jumping straight from 6.7 to 7.0.

With the Special Program done, the next checkpoint is launch day itself on August 12. The 7.1 Special Program, which will lock in Vodyanitsa and Vesna, is expected around mid-September, roughly 10 to 14 days before 7.1 goes live.

Version 7.0 Livestream Codes

Confirmed Characters and Banners

The Special Program locked in both halves of Version 7.0. Odette headlines Phase 1 as the only new 5-star of the patch, with Alyosha joining as the new 4-star on both Phase 1 banners and the Cryo Traveler unlocking through the story. The 7.1 and later rows are still leaks.

One note on Phase 2: Flins and Ineffa run on Lunar-Charged, the older reaction family from the Nod-Krai patches, not the new Stellar system. Even with Stellar reactions becoming the fresh meta, Lunar teams stay strong, so neither rerun loses value.

Odette: The Only New 5-Star in 7.0

Odette is the pull decision of the patch. She leads a double life as a celebrated ballet dancer, drawing on Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, and a Fatui operative who once served under La Signora. In combat she fights with a sword and a dancing double of herself.

Here's what her kit does:

• Her Elemental Skill summons a Solo Dance Double that stays behind and keeps applying Cryo. Cast the Skill again while the double is out and the two of them perform a duet, closing with a hit that counts as a Stellar-Conduct or Stellar Swirl reaction.
• Her Burst is a faster dance that re-summons the double and grants Snow Swan's Dream, which buffs the Stellar reaction damage she deals.
• The important part is a passive: when any party member triggers Superconduct or Cryo Swirl, it becomes Stellar-Conduct or Stellar Swirl instead, with the reaction's base damage scaling off Odette's ATK. She's the conversion engine, not just another buffer.
• Summoning the double gives her stacks of Marvelous Splendor, which raise Stellar reaction damage for her and, once her passive is unlocked, for the characters holding them too.
• In the current beta, enemies near the dance double take a 20% Elemental RES shred while she's in her Radiance state, and her constellations sharpen her reaction output further. Exactly which effects sit on the passive versus the constellations is still shifting between builds.

🔍 Our read: The community is split on whether she's a main DPS or an off-field support, and the honest answer is that her kit lets her do both. Beta analysts point to two playstyles: off-field Cryo sub-DPS who keeps buffing Stellar reactions, or on-field reaction carry leaning on her ATK conversion.

One thing worth saying out loud: if you already have Sandrone, Odette overlaps with her. Sandrone is already a Cryo carry built around Stellar-Conduct. Odette matters most if you skipped Sandrone, or if you want to build around Stellar Swirl instead.

Alyosha: The Free 4-Star (Confirmed)

Alyosha is the one to pay attention to if you're broke. HoYoverse confirmed he's free through the Snezhnaya Archon Quest, Chapter VII: Act I "Everwinter Without Mercy," the same way Collei, Lynette, Kachina, and Aino were free with their regions. He's also the rate-up 4-star on both Phase 1 banners, so you can pick up copies while pulling Odette or Arlecchino.

Alyosha fights alongside his hound, Tugarin. Together they set traps, deal off-field Electro damage, and heal nearby allies during combat, while Alyosha hands the team Stellar-Conduct damage buffs. His Exploration Talent also marks the locations of nearby Snezhnaya Local Specialties on your map, which is handy for pre-farming.

⚠️ Heads up: His live kit was toned down from the early beta build. He's still a strong free unit for Stellar-Conduct teams, but temper expectations if you saw the first datamines.

That's a lot of value for a freebie. Stellar-Conduct teams want steady off-field Electro, which has meant leaning on Yae Miko or Raiden. Alyosha covers that slot for everyone, including players who skipped Sandrone's banner entirely.

Cryo Traveler: The Other Free Unit

The Traveler's seventh element arrives with Snezhnaya, and HoYoverse confirmed it's more interesting than the usual Traveler form.

• Their Skill plants a Cryo construct. While it's on the field, Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks convert to Cryo damage that can't be overridden, with bonus damage based on the Traveler's ATK.
• A passive converts part of their ATK into Elemental Mastery, so they scale with the new reaction-heavy artifact sets.
• The big one: the Cryo Traveler can enable both Stellar reactions (Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl), so a fully free account has a gateway into the new system without any premium units.
• They also get a free 5-star sword through story and exploration, which you can refine and upgrade in the region.

Between Alyosha and the Cryo Traveler, a completely free account can run a functional Stellar team from day one. That reshapes the pull math for everyone who isn't chasing top-end damage.

New Feature: Third-Person Shooter Mode

The headline system in 7.0 isn't a reaction, it's a whole new way to play. Snezhnaya introduces a third-person shooter (TPS) mode that matches the firearms so much of the Fatui use.

• On arrival, the Traveler picks up the Eye of Graeae, a versatile goggle tool that protects against the cold, calls trains, fabricates Prime Ice Constructs for puzzles, and unlocks the shooter mode.
• Shooting plays out in special zones called Shadow Realms, which break the usual rules of Teyvat. You control the Traveler over the shoulder and fight with guns that interact with the elemental system.
• There are three firearms plus attachments scattered across the region, along with movement options like taking cover, sliding, and vaulting. Aim assist and auto-snapping toggles are included.

Stellar Reactions: What's Live and What's Coming

This system isn't a leak anymore. Stellar-Conduct went live in Version 6.7 (Luna VIII) alongside Sandrone, and it's the reason Cryo is suddenly worth building. Stellar Swirl is the 7.0 half of the system and is now confirmed for launch.

Old Characters Getting Stellar Buffs

This is the part most guides are burying, and it matters more than the banner order. HoYoverse already did this once: Version 6.7 patched Yae Miko, Qiqi, Beidou, Cyno, Diona, Wriothesley, and Yumemizuki Mizuki so they interact with Stellar-Conduct, with the changes unlocked through a set of Witch's Revelation tasks.

That's why half the Sandrone team guides now recommend characters nobody had touched in a year.

Leaks say 7.0 runs the same playbook for Stellar Swirl, with a batch of existing units getting it folded into their kits: Sandrone, Varka, Skirk, Kazuha, Venti, Mizuki, Qiqi, Diona, Prune, Sayu, and Sucrose. Treat this list as a leak until the buffs go live.

A few of these change real decisions. Sandrone reportedly enables Stellar Swirl as well as Stellar-Conduct, which makes skipping her harder. Kazuha and Venti stop being dead weight in Cryo teams. Before you spend on a new unit for Stellar teams, check whether a character you already own just got upgraded into the slot.

Vodyanitsa: Leaked for 7.1

⚠️ She was the early favorite to open 7.0. Current leaks put her in 7.1 alongside Vesna. She still appears in 7.0, though, with her own Story Quest during the Snezhnaya update. Only her banner slot moved.

HoYoverse showed her off in both the April Special Program and the trailer: she sings while using her skills, which is a first for Genshin. Her dialogue calls the rules of Teyvat a set of curses, which is about as direct a shot at the Heavenly Principles as the game has taken.

Her element is worth repeating because plenty of sites still have it wrong. Early leaks said Electro and pegged her as the Stellar-Conduct partner for Sandrone. The trailer shows a Hydro Vision on her back. She is not the Electro slot in your Sandrone team. Alyosha is.

Tsaritsa (Anastasya): The Cryo Archon

The Tsaritsa's story has been building since day one. Back in 2020, the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview teased her chapter as "Everwinter Without Mercy," and six years later the Sudden Snow trailer finally revealed her face. That same phrase is now the official name of Version 7.0.

The trailer gave players their first full look at her, reminiscing about a child who called her "mother," with strong hints that the Heavenly Principles took the child away. It closes with her facing Ronova, the Shade of Death, and playing chess with Rhinedottir. Ronova is also confirmed as a new 7.0 enemy.

Every Archon so far has become playable, and she won't be the exception. If she's your target, you have roughly three versions of saving ahead, and 7.0 is a good window to bank Primogems instead of spending them.

Pantalone: The Regrator

The 9th Fatui Harbinger stayed home while every other Harbinger got sent across Teyvat to collect Gnoses. Pantalone (full name Feofan Sergeyevich Veskel) runs the Northern Kingdom Bank and the Fatui's financial empire, and he has no Vision and no supernatural combat abilities. His power is money and politics.

In the trailer he works with Pulcinella on the mysterious Project "Stuzha." How HoYoverse turns a banker with no Vision into a playable fighter is one of the region's better open questions. A Delusion, a weapon system, or something new.

He was rumored for a 7.0 slot early on, then dropped out of the leaks. The current 7.1 to 7.3 roadmap leaks don't include him, so there's no version attached right now. Don't budget around him.

Full Snezhnaya Cast from the Sudden Snow Trailer

On June 26, 2026, HoYoverse dropped the Transcendence Trailer "Sudden Snow," revealing eleven Snezhnaya characters with their voice casts. Only three Visions were shown on screen: the Tsaritsa (Cryo), Vesna (Anemo), and Vodyanitsa (Hydro).

Odette (Cryo) and Alyosha (Electro) were later confirmed through the 7.0 reveals. The rest are still blank.

New Weapons and Artifacts

The Phase 1 weapon banner carries two 5-star swords: Odette's signature Whitelake Frostfeather and Arlecchino's returning Crimson Moon's Semblance. Phase 2 brings back Flins' and Ineffa's signatures. Snezhnaya also adds a set of forgeable 4-stars, new Battle Pass weapons, and a free 5-star sword handed to the Cryo Traveler through exploration.

Most of the craftable 4-stars scale off Elemental Mastery, ATK, or Stellar reaction damage directly, so the forgeable pool should give F2P builds a real option instead of a placeholder.

Two new artifact sets are also coming, both built around the Stellar system: one aimed at supports and one for Stellar DPS. If they hold up, they'll replace the patchwork Cryo sets people are running with Sandrone right now.

Snezhnaya Region and Exploration

Dragonspine was a preview. Snezhnaya is the real thing. The devs leaned on Eastern European and Arctic influence, so expect jagged frozen terrain, thick conifer forests, and snow that never melts. The nation endures relentless cold and uses Kresnik energy for warmth.

The capital, Snezhnograd, is home to bustling streets and the Fatui's headquarters, where the region's technological and military power is on display. Snezhnaya is also the homeland of the Snowland Fae, the race behind Linnea, Flins, and Vodyanitsa.

Outside the capital, players explore icefields where ancient beasts roam and villages watched over by Jack Frosts.

Train Network

A full railway system connects the settlements, and it isn't just fast travel. The Traveler even gets their own summonable train with a cabin full of facilities, including a Crafting Bench and a Commission claimer. Building a rail network at all suggests a map on the larger end for Genshin.

The Eye of Graeae

The Traveler's new exploration tool, the Eye of Graeae, is the Swiss Army knife of the region. It shields you from the cold, calls trains, fabricates Prime Ice Constructs for puzzle-solving, and unlocks the third-person shooter mode in the Shadow Realms.

Smarter Enemies

HoYoverse has been building toward smarter combat, with enemies that coordinate and use terrain rather than just walking at you. Ronova, the Shade of Death, headlines the new enemy lineup for the region.

Pull Strategy and Primogem Planning

Launch is close, and the banner order is now official. Here's how the decisions actually stack up.

On Primogems: inside 7.0 itself, leakers estimate around 15,000 Primogems (roughly 95 pulls) from the new region, quests, and events, which is a big number even by new-nation standards. A worst-case guarantee is still 180 wishes (28,800 Primogems), so keep a cushion if your 50/50 tends to go badly.

Pre-Farming Checklist

Almost nothing Snezhnaya-specific can be farmed before launch. Boss materials, talent books, and the new weapon materials are all locked behind the region. Stick to the universal stuff:

• Primogems: 28,800 for a guaranteed 5-star, plus roughly 80 more wishes if you want the signature weapon too
• Hero's Wit: 420 books to take a character from 1 to 90
• Mora: around 8 million per fully built character
• Mystic Enhancement Ore: stock up for the new craftable weapons
• Cryo Ascension Gems (Shivada Jade) if Odette is your target. Hydro gems (Varunada Lazurite) if you're waiting on Vodyanitsa in 7.1

Final Thoughts

Version 7.0 is six years of buildup landing at once: the last nation, a new reaction system, a third-person shooter mode, and the biggest cast reveal the game has done in a single trailer.

On the banner side it's simpler than it looks. Odette is the only new 5-star, sharing Phase 1 with an Arlecchino rerun. Alyosha and the Cryo Traveler are free. Flins and Ineffa return in Phase 2 for Lunar teams. Vodyanitsa and Vesna wait for 7.1, and the Tsaritsa is the real savings target further out.

So: pick one target, protect your pity, and check the Stellar buff list before you pay for a character you might already have. The next big checkpoint is launch day on August 12.
