Version 4.4 opens with a fresh Apocalyptic Shadow reset, and this time it's the Vanguard Knight phase running from July 20 to August 31, 2026 (server time). You'll clear two Boss Mirages in normal play, with an optional third waiting in Starward Mode for anyone chasing the full Jade haul.
I've already run the whole thing, so instead of another wall of theory, this guide hands you the exact teams that got me through every node — plus the buff picks and boss quirks that actually decide your score.
Most of these lineups pull from units featured on the current 4.4 banner rotation, so nothing here is off-schedule. If you're a little short on pulls to secure them, a quick Oneiric Shard top-up keeps your account ready before the banner moves on.

Best Teams for Silver Knight of Virtuous Gallantry (Node 1)
Argenti's mirage leans on his statue summons to stall your Toughness damage, so every team here wants a way to clear adds fast, then pour everything into the boss the moment his bar opens up. He's weak to Physical, Fire, Ice, and Imaginary.
| Team 1 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Himeko, 1+0 Ruan Mei, Sword March 7th, and Remembrance Trailblazer. Start with Remembrance Trailblazer's Technique; if Trailblazer acts first and directly unlocks Judgment form, and all supports use Vonwacq, this team can break Argenti before his first action locks weaknesses. With both Remembrance Trailblazer and Sword March 7th in the team, you can switch forms flexibly during battle, such as changing to Judgment form right before Himeko's Ultimate. |
| Team 2 | |||||
Wolf Lord main DPS Elation team. Reference setup: 0+1 Silver Wolf LV.999, 0+0 Yao Guang, Elation Trailblazer, and 1+0 Ruan Mei. Silver Wolf LV.999 really wants Ruan Mei's Toughness reduction support in this fight; otherwise, breaking is very slow and the score suffers noticeably. |
| Team 3 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Evanescia, 0+0 Yao Guang, Elation Trailblazer, and 0+0 Huohuo. |
| Team 4 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Phainon, 0+0 Cerydra, 0+0 Sparkle, and 1+0 Ruan Mei. |
| Team 5 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Firefly, 0+0 The Dahlia, 0+0 Fugue, and 1+0 Ruan Mei. |
| Team 6 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Anaxa, 0+0 Cyrene, 0+0 Cerydra, and Remembrance Trailblazer. |
The habit that saves runs here: never let four statues sit on the field. Break the summons first, deny Argenti his Toughness Protection, then commit your burst window once Steadfast Safeguard drops. Linebreaker on the front DPS shaves off the extra DEF layer.
Silver Knight of Virtuous Gallantry Boss Breakdown
![]() Silver Knight of Virtuous Gallantry (Argenti) | Phases | 2 Phases |
|---|---|---|
| Weaknesses | Imaginary, Physical, Ice, Fire | |
| Resistances | Quantum, Wind, Lightning, Control | |
| Recommended Types | Physical, Fire, Imaginary |
Silver Knight of Virtuous Gallantry Boss Traits
| Trait | Stage | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Steadfast Safeguard | Stage 1+ | Takes 60% less DMG. After Weakness is broken, its action is additionally delayed and DMG taken increases by 125%. |
| Reversal of Fortune | Stage 1+ | Switches Combat Stance and summons different statues. Defeating statues in the "Soulfreed" state increases the team's DMG for the battle. |
| Combat Stance | — | Chivalric Wrath: summons Speartip statues, takes less DMG; enters Toughness Protection at 4 statues. Golden Harvest: summons Shield statues, boosts his DMG. Medal of Elegance: summons The Honored — he can't be targeted while statues exist. |
| Turn Back the Tide | Stage 3+ | When he uses "Soulfreed" in Phase II, it targets all statues. |
| Stellar Aegis | Stage 4 | For every unit on his side aside from the Boss Mirage, all enemies receive less DMG. |
Silver Knight of Virtuous Gallantry Summons
| Summon | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| The Honored | Imaginary, Physical, Ice, Fire |
| Speartip | Imaginary, Physical, Fire |
| The Shield | No Weakness |
So, use Imaginary, Fire, Physical, and Ice characters here. Enemies in the first half are weak to those four types, and we recommend DPS units that can deal damage to multiple targets against Argenti — clearing his statues before committing is what unlocks real Toughness damage.
Best Teams for The Ravaged Unconquerable (Node 2)
Nikador's fight is all about War Armor. He and his summons soak damage until you strip their stacks, so this node rewards fast, frequent hits and heavy Skill Point usage. He's weak to Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Quantum.
| Team 1 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Archer, 0+0 Sparkle, Remembrance Trailblazer, and Gallagher. Rotation notes: Archer should cast two Ultimates before the boss acts to complete the Weakness Break directly. In phase 2, Archer should attack the pillars first, then switch back to the boss once his stacks are high enough. |
| Team 2 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+0 Mortenax Blade, 0+1 Ashveil, Remembrance Trailblazer, and Gallagher. Rotation notes: before Weakness Break, give the true damage effect to Blade; after Weakness Break, give it to Ashveil. On the second wave, focus resources to clear at least one full wave of pillars. |
| Team 4 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Sparxie, 0+0 Yao Guang, Elation Trailblazer, and 0+0 Sparkle. Rotation note: try to use Enhanced Basic ATK first, then use Elation Trailblazer's Ultimate and Yao Guang's Ultimate for damage. |
| Team 5 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Archer, 0+1 Ashveil, 0+0 Sparkle, and Remembrance Trailblazer. Rotation notes: after Weakness Break, give Mimi's true damage effect to Ashveil. In the second phase, destroy the pillars first, then attack the boss body. |
Priority one is The Conquered summon — it shares War Armor with the boss, so breaking it drops Nikador's protection too. Characters who spend Skill Points fast build Glory stacks quicker, which is what actually peels armor. Sustain like Gallagher keeps that tempo alive.
The Ravaged Unconquerable Boss Breakdown
![]() The Ravaged Unconquerable (Nikador) | Phases | 2 Phases |
|---|---|---|
| Weaknesses | Quantum, Lightning, Ice, Fire | |
| Resistances | Imaginary, Physical, Wind, Control | |
| Recommended Types | Fire, Ice, Lightning, Quantum |
The Ravaged Unconquerable Boss Traits
| Trait | Stage | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Steadfast Safeguard | Stage 1+ | Takes 50% less DMG. After Weakness is broken, its action is additionally delayed and DMG taken increases by 100%. |
| Ironclad Renitence | Stage 1+ | The boss and its summons carry War Armor that reduces DMG taken. In Phase 2 it upgrades to "Centirefined War Armor" with a higher stack limit, and the boss gains extra Toughness Protection. |
| War Armor | — | Loses stacks based on the attacker's "Glory" count. At 0 stacks it shatters for massive Imaginary DMG, cuts Toughness, delays the target, and refunds Skill Points. It restores to max at the end of the unit's turn. |
| Taint of the Sublime | Stage 3+ | In Phase 2, the max stack of the boss's "Centirefined War Armor" increases. |
| Protective Formation | Stage 4 | For every unit on its side aside from the Boss Mirage, all enemies receive less DMG and deal more DMG. |
The Ravaged Unconquerable Summons
| Summon | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| The Conquered | Imaginary, Quantum, Lightning, Fire |
So, use Lightning, Fire, Quantum, and Ice characters here. Enemies in the second half are weak to those four types, and we recommend DPS units that can deal AoE damage against Nikador — break The Conquered to strip the shared War Armor, then keep your Glory high to peel the rest.
Best Teams for Blaznana Monkey Trick (Starward Mode)
This third node is Starward Mode exclusive, so you'll only see it after clearing Difficulty 3 and toggling the mode on. It demands a full third team and leans hard into AoE, since the whole fight is about managing the Switch Tally across several BananAdvisors. Weak to Imaginary, Lightning, Ice, and Fire.
| Team 1 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Himeko, 0+0 Tribbie, Remembrance Trailblazer, and Sword March 7th. Rotation note: at the start, switch to Judgment form first, use a round of Ultimates, then switch back to Break form. |
| Team 2 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Acheron, 0+0 Mortenax Blade, 0+0 Tribbie, and Remembrance Trailblazer. Rotation notes: at the start, use Mimi to advance Mortenax Blade. In the second phase, let Blade take one hit before using his Ultimate to restore HP. |
| Team 3 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 The Herta, 0+0 Tribbie, Herta, and Remembrance Trailblazer. Rotation notes: in both phases, try to let The Herta's Ultimate trigger the Weakness Break. At the start, avoid breaking too quickly. |
| Team 4 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Hysilens, 0+0 Black Swan, 0+0 Kafka, and 0+0 Tribbie. Rotation note: after Weakness Break, Hysilens should use her Ultimate during her own turn. |
| Team 5 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+1 Evanescia, 0+0 Yao Guang, Elation Trailblazer, and 0+0 Tribbie. |
| Team 6 | |||||
Reference setup: 0+0 Mortenax Blade, 0+1 Ashveil, 0+0 Tribbie, and 0+0 Huohuo. Rotation note: Ashveil should mainly attack the large center enemy with the 8-stack count shield, and make sure Blade does not lose Ultimate uptime. |
Hit the Mr. Domescreens first — if they don't switch channels they drain your Energy, so max their Tally early. Then spread damage across the BananAdvisors to fill every Switch Tally at once. AoE DPS shines here because it reduces multiple Toughness bars in one swing.
Blaznana Monkey Trick Boss Breakdown
![]() Blaznana Monkey Trick (Wonder Forest's Banacademic Office Staff) | Phases | 2 Phases |

|---|---|---|
| Steadfast Safeguard | Stage 1+ | Takes 50% less DMG. After Weakness is broken, its action is additionally delayed and DMG taken increases by 100%. |
| United Front | Stage 1+ | All enemy units take 50% less DMG and hold a Switch Tally while in "Classroom Channel." After the boss's Weakness is broken, its DMG taken increases by 100%. |
| Switch Tally | — | A unit in "Classroom Channel" gains 1 point when attacked. At max, it flips to "Off-Class Channel," reduces the boss's Toughness, and grants its Off-Class reward once. |
| Tally Loss | Stage 3+ | At the start of every turn, enemy units in "Classroom Channel" lose a set amount of Switch Tally. |
| SPD Boost | Stage 4 | Increases SPD for "End-of-Semester Dinner." |
Blaznana Monkey Trick Enemy Info
| Enemy | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| Charmony BananAdvisor | Imaginary, Lightning, Ice, Fire |
| Dreamweaver BananAdvisor | Imaginary, Lightning, Ice, Fire |
| Fortune BananAdvisor | Imaginary, Lightning, Fire |
| Assistanana | Imaginary, Lightning, Ice |
So, use Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Imaginary characters here. Enemies in Starward Mode are weak to those four types, and we recommend DPS units that can deal AoE damage against the Wonder Forest's Banacademic Office Staff — spreading Toughness pressure fills every Switch Tally at once.
Apocalyptic Shadow 4.4 General Information
| Schedule and Score Targets | ||
| Mode | Normal | Starward |
| Duration | Jul 20 - Aug 31, 2026 (server time) | Jul 20 - Aug 31, 2026 (server time) |
| Enemy Levels | 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 (Stage 1-4) | 90 |
| Score Targets | 4,000 / 5,200 / 6,600 | 6,000 / 7,800 / 9,900 · 10,200 for the Prismatic Star |
| Ruinous Embers |
| When an enemy with "Steadfast Safeguard" is Weakness Broken, it dispels control states for all allies, recovers their Skill Points, and activates their Ultimates. This is why aggressive, break-focused teams thrive in this phase. On top of that, all enemies take 25% more Skill DMG and 15% more Ultimate DMG for the whole run, so leaning into Skills and burst windows pays off directly. |
What Is Apocalyptic Shadow?
Apocalyptic Shadow is one of Honkai: Star Rail's permanent endgame modes, sitting alongside Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction. You face two-phase Boss Mirages and race an Action Value timer — the faster you kill, the higher your score and rewards.
Since Version 4.3, Starward Mode adds an optional third boss on top of Difficulty 4, turning it into a three-team challenge for extra Stellar Jades. It's fully optional, so you can grab the base rewards without it if a third team isn't ready yet.
Chasing every mode this patch? These companion guides pair well with your Apocalyptic Shadow prep.
| Guide | What It Covers |
|---|---|
| Honkai: Star Rail team comps hub | Every meta team archetype in one place, updated per patch. |
| Best Anomaly Arbitration teams | Lineups for the newest Currency War-style endgame mode. |
| Current HSR character tier list | Who's worth building right now across every role. |
| Latest Honkai: Star Rail redemption codes | Free Stellar Jades and materials, refreshed regularly. |
Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction share the same Starward toggle, so the three-team habit you build here transfers directly. Plan your support and sustain spread once and it pays off across all three modes.

As the upcoming Starward Mode increases the demand for a third team, expanding your character pool now is the best way to future-proof your account.
If you need to secure key characters or Eidolons for your best HSR teams, picking up a discounted HSR top-up from GamsGo is a smart way to stretch your pull budget.
